Christine, Duncan and myself, have been very competitive this year. What I find so enjoyable about our ongoing running rivalry , is how close in capability all three of us are. On any given day one of us can beat the other two and this has made for some memorable races.
So lets have a look back at some of 2012 highlights..
The Spring 5k’s
We ran a series of 5k’s in the Spring at Liberty State park we’re a manged a couple of victories. Christine and Duncan we’re knipping at my heals but I managed a few early year victories.
Cherry Blossom 1ok
In this race Christine proved her mettle by defating both Duncan an myself. I fell off the pace about at the half-way mark, but Chrisitne and Duncan fought it out till the end.Christine finshed first , Duncan close behind.
Rutgers 13.1 Half Marathon
A week after the Cherry Blossom 10k , all three of us headed down to New Brunswick for a 13.1 Half marathon. It was as fantastic race (for me), I wasn’t feeling too good at the start , but when the gun sounded I picked up the pace and managed to stay clear or Duncan and Christine for most of the race. The excitement came with about a quarter mile to the finish Duncan pulled up next to me, I was in complete pain and mustered all my energy to literally beat him at the line.
Pfize 5k Corporate challenge
Duncan maintained his summer supremacy be beating both Christine and myself handily on a hot and humid summer afternoon.
Striders 5k XC race 3
Christine and Duncan went head to head only to have Christine emerge victorious beating Duncan in the Striders Cross Country summer series.
AshenFelter 8k Thanksgiving
We wrapped up our season by running the Ashenfelter Classic 8k, a popular Turkey trot race. Duncan and Christine had break out performance finishing several minutes in front of me. Duncan managed a strong performance finishing first with Christine less than a minute behind.
